The psychology of personality development and quality of life represents a new branch of applied psychology. It combines issues of human development psychology, psychopathology, educational psychology and clinical psychology. The specialisation is aimed at students thinking about working to optimise the development of people of different ages: children, adolescents and adults. Students gain knowledge about the causes and pathomechanisms of various developmental disorders, learn to diagnose developmental potential and become familiar with methods of supporting the development of individual mental spheres of both normal persons and those with various mental and somatic disorders. Students also gain knowledge of monitoring and supporting the main educational environments such as family, kindergartens, schools and care institutions. In addition, the study programme addresses the issue of activating senior citizens.

They can find employment in institutions with integration departments and day-care centres for children, young people and seniors (environmental and therapeutic day-care centres, clubs, sociotherapeutic centres, educational centres). The acquired education is useful for working in companies, associations, foundations and various non-governmental organisations implementing psycho-educational programmes. Graduates of the specialisation in developmental psychology can also find employment in universities of the third age.
