The educational programme of the specialisation in educational psychology focuses on the development of children and adolescents seen in the perspective of upbringing, its goals and strategies. Upbringing, as an integral element of man’s integration into social life, refers in psychology to basic individual differences, emotional areas of his/her functioning, developmental barriers, upbringing limitations and prospects for self-fulfilment. The studies in this specialisation have a practical dimension, preparing for work with children, adolescents at different stages of their social functioning development.  The studies focus on the issues of psychology as seen in the dimension of a modern school, which should provide children and young people with optimal conditions for education. An integral element of modern education is psychological support at school and in other educational institutions.

Graduates of the specialisation in educational psychology are prepared to work in schools (after obtaining qualifications regulated by separate regulations in the scope of pedagogical preparation) in various types of day-care centres, school and educational centres, revalidation and educational centres, care and educational institutions. The acquired education is useful for work in non-governmental organisations implementing educational, developmental, psycho-educational and preventive programmes. Graduates of the specialisation in educational psychology can also take up employment in institutions supporting seniors, family foster homes, socialisation institutions, self-help groups for youth, adults and universities of the third age.
