The curriculum of the social psychology specialisation focuses on the functioning of the individual in various social situations. The studies in this specialisation allow to acquire theoretical and practical skills in the functioning of individuals, as well as social groups, taking into account psychological mechanisms regulating human behaviour. The studies provide an opportunity to understand the connections and processes occurring in the relations between an individual and a social group in different contexts of life. The acquired knowledge allows for the skilful shaping of interpersonal relations, coping with stress, or conducting mediation. Students of the social psychology specialisation acquire knowledge in the study of interpersonal interactions, conflict resolution, influencing people, modelling their behaviour and attitudes towards problems of social life. Graduates acquire psychological competences necessary in professional fields related to economic and social life, both in the area of norm and social pathology.

Social psychology graduates are prepared to work in the police, in penal institutions and detention centres, in military units in schools (after obtaining qualifications regulated by separate regulations on pedagogical preparation) in various types of day care centres, school and educational centres, revalidation and educational centres, care and educational institutions. Acquired education is useful for work in non-governmental organisations implementing social, developmental, psycho-educational and preventive educational programmes. Graduates of the social psychology specialisation can also take up employment in institutions supporting seniors, socialisation institutions, self-help groups for youth, adults and universities of the third age. The acquired knowledge will allow the graduate to find his/her place in the work of interdisciplinary teams and in environments supporting “street children”, the homeless, the unemployed and immigrants.
