PEDAGOGY OF SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

DRAFT OF SPECIALIZATION

The aim of the specialisation is to equip students with the skills to professionally organise early, comprehensive and systematic support for children at risk of abnormal development; children with disabilities and their families in acquiring the skills to deal with the child within the scope defined by the individual early support programme; to prepare the student to conduct early support classes for children with impaired psychomotor and social development.

During the course, the student learns about the conditions for organising and implementing early supportive therapy for the development of children, understood as multidisciplinary, complex and intensive actions aimed at stimulating functions responsible for psychomotor development and communication of a child with special educational needs.

Selected speciality subjects:

Fundamentals of child psychological diagnosis

Support for the family and the child with disabilities

State social policy towards families of children with disabilities

Psychology of rehabilitation of a child with disabilities

Techniques and methods of working with children with special educational needs

 

CAREER PROSPECTS

Upon graduation, Graduates are competent to enter employment in, among others:

early childhood development support centres and early intervention centres,

special kindergartens, integration kindergartens, kindergartens with integration classes and mainstream kindergartens providing programmes supporting the development of children with special educational needs*,

 non-public institutions – centres, foundations, associations and other institutions where teams are established to provide early development support for children with special educational needs,

psychological and pedagogical counselling centres that run the programme of early development support for children with special educational needs.

* after obtaining the required qualifications specified in the Standards of education preparing for the teaching profession.
